Soroti District Local is having half day meeting with Uganda AIDs Commission  members, in the district council.
*Purpose and objectives*
To roll out of the national policy guideline on Ending HIV Stigma and Discrimination.
*Specific Objectives*
✓  Disseminate the policy guidelines to stakeholders.
✓ Equip PLHIV constituency to address stigma and discrimination ( Self stigma)
✓ Equip cultural, religious leaders and other other key actors to deal with stigma (both external and internal)
✓ Disseminate the key the  messages to the community through Media.
✓ Draft action plans on implementation of the policy.
*Background* 
In an effort to have a coordinated HIV/AIDS response, Uganda AIDS Commission guided that HIV/AIDs committee be formed at district level whose major role is to oversee the implantation of the HIV/AIDS activities at the district level.
Under the decentralize policy, all the district were mandated to form District HIV/AIDS Committees (DHAC).
This committee is mandated to meet quarterly to discuss the district HIV/AIDS performance.
