The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development starts the Training of Local Government Trainers to cascade training of stakeholder on the Parish Development Model. A year ago the government introduced the PDM as a result of a number of reviews of Government’s planning, with the objective of increasing the effectiveness of interaction between government and citizens to accelerate the realization of socio-economic transformation getting Ugandans out of subsistence economy into the monetary economy within 5 years.
Its upon this background, the Ministry has organized a regional Training of Trainers of trainers workshop with the purpose of building capacity of 880 Local government officials, to roll out and popularize the Parish Development Model. The regional training are apparently on going from Monday 31st to Thursday February 3rd 2022 and will be held in 8 centers concurrently, these are Soroti in Akello Hotel, Mbale in Wash and Wills hotel, Gulu in Boma Hotel, Lira in Maragrita Palace Hotel, Mukuno in Colline Hotel, Masaka in Tropical hotel, Hoima in Hoima Resort hotel and Mbarara in Igongo cultural Center.
The districts of Teso local government representatives such as Soroti, Amuria, Bukedea, Serere, Katakwi ,Kapelebyong, Kalaki, Ngora, Kaberamaido, Kumi, Kumi MC, and Soroti city will be in Mbale. The Training targets 5 each district including the District Community Development officers, District production officer, District Commercial Officer, District planner and District Communication Officer. *Soroti District Local Government is being represented by DCDO, Margret Acaya, DCO Joy Christine Apolot, DPO, James Michael Enyaku, and Communication Officer Abram Ekwaru appearing on the picture* . Parish Development Model is based on 7 Pillar of Production storage, processing and marketing Infrastructure and economic services, financial inclusion, social services, Community mobilisation & mindset change, Data collection (Parish-based management information system), Governance and administration (one-gov’t approach)
