The opening of Kamuda-Olobai road in Kamuda sub county in Soroti district has excited the locals. The 13.3km road was yesterday launched by the district officials.
Road users and locals say the poor the state of Olobai has been affecting them thus they could not access the nearby markets and also the school going children were much affected whenever raining season comes.
While interacting with district officials locals expressed mixed reactions and applauded the district for responding to their plight.
Abraham Ekwaru, the district communication officer says the Works Department received 20,000,000/= funds from Uganda Road Fund (URF) for maintenance of the District and Community Access Roads (DURCAR) and this Financial Year, Kamuda- Olobai (CAR) was planned for opening and mechanised routine maintenance.
Relatedly, the district also opened the construction of St Selles Kelim “A” 3km road connecting to Anyalai Dam in Tubur Sub County at the cost 11,232, 309/=
Meanwhile Ekwaru says the district is committed in ensuring the district and community access roads are opened so as to improve the road network.
He has now asked the road users to always use the road well and avoid the driving oxen plough on the road.
