Soroti District Receives 400 Iron Sheets from Office of the Prime Minister

Soroti, August 31, 2026 — Soroti District Local Government has received 400 pieces of iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to support the improvement of learning infrastructure in two primary schools within the district.

The iron sheets were delivered to the Soroti District Headquarters on Monday, August 31, 2026, by a truck from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The materials are earmarked for Asuret Primary School and Kadinya-Katine Primary School, with each school receiving 200 pieces of iron sheets.

The support follows a formal request submitted by Soroti District Local Government to the Office of the Prime Minister on 27 July 2026, seeking assistance towards addressing infrastructure needs in the identified schools.

District officials say the intervention is expected to contribute to efforts to improve the learning environment for pupils by supporting the construction, renovation or completion of essential school infrastructure.

At Asuret Primary School, 200 pieces have been allocated, while another 200 pieces will be delivered to Kadinya-Katine Primary School, bringing the total support received by the district to 400 pieces.

The delivery demonstrates the importance of collaboration between local governments and central government institutions in addressing infrastructure challenges affecting public service delivery.

School infrastructure remains an important component of effective education service delivery, as inadequate classrooms and other facilities can affect both teaching and learning. The provision of construction materials therefore provides an opportunity for the beneficiary schools to address some of their infrastructure gaps.

The district is expected to coordinate the distribution of the iron sheets to the respective schools and ensure that the materials are used for their intended purpose.

The support also comes as Soroti District continues to engage government institutions and other stakeholders to mobilise resources for improving service delivery across the district.

The District Local Government has previously made requests for support in areas where available local resources are insufficient to meet identified community needs.

The receipt of the iron sheets marks a step forward in the district's efforts to improve school infrastructure and create a more conducive learning environment for pupils in Asuret and Kadinya-Katine.
