Soroti District Local Government Leadership has this morning delivered he-goat Soroti Regional Referral Hospital in honouring a team of doctors who separated a conjoined twin from her dead sibling. The district team lead by the political head, the LC-5 chairperson Simon Peter Edoru Ekuu, the District CAO Luke LL. Lokuda, and Susan Agnes Apolot, the former district councilor for Asuret sub county paid a courtesy visit to hospital to deliver the token of appreciation of he-goat and Shs 200,000. Edoru says during the previous district council, the councilors agreed to recognize the Staff of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for the heroic work. The Senior Consultant Surgeon at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital Dr. Joseph Epodoi and a team of 14 other medics performed a historic surgery on March 26th, 2021 after successfully separating a conjoined living twin from dead sister. The deceased twin had taken six days and was decomposing by the time of the operation. “As Soroti district we want recognize the Staff of Soroti Regional Hospital for the they did passionate work,” said Edoru. Apolot, the former councilor for Asuret sub county says it is always right to honor and pay respected to people who do good for the community. Apolot says, the team of Dr Epodoi exhibited remarkable work, service above self, patriotism, hard work, competence, dedication to the people. “So today we bring something small to appreciate the team at hospital,” adds Apolot. While receiving it, Dr Priscila Amuge, applauded Soroti district leadership for their support. “The district chairman, CAO and Hon. Councilor we are very great full for the he-goat, we the all Staff, roast it. When our leaders pay such a gesture, we feel proud,” she added.
